UNEARTHING TIME   After a long hiatus from painting, in 2016, I began to rebuild my relationship with paint as an expressive medium.  As I started to let go and loosen up, metaphors of unearthing began to infiltrate my work. Ideas such as stuckness, muddied vision, hardness, dormancy, then evolved into ideas of chaos, upward movement, seeds, change, light, and emergence.  As some big shifts began to occur in my creative process, I dreamed of underground snake dens... battles between masculine/feminine and control/wildness. These dichotomies and metaphors are represented in the work from that time.
